PART 1: COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION

1. HOORAY! YOU'RE IN!

We are going to have SO much fun talking about homeschooling. I can’t wait to learn more about you, your children, and your family’s homeschooling needs. This Welcome Page was created to help you get oriented to the course format. Take a few minutes now to settle in to the experience.

2. joining the Facebook Community

Kari is ready to help you complete the enrollment process.

Kari is ready to help you complete the enrollment process.

The course discussion forum will be hosted inside a Facebook group. You will be responsible for checking in on your own time to view new posts with articles, quotes, tips, inspiration, and suggested assignments. You must first be a member of the group.

My Administrative Specialist, Kari, will be adding you to the group.

When you request to join, make sure you answer the questions, letting us know if your PayPal email/name is the SAME as your Facebook username. If we don’t know who you are, we can’t add you to the course!

When we verify your payment, we will admit you to the group. Sometimes this takes several days, since we manually add everyone to the current roster in large batches. If there is a slight delay, please be patient. If you aren’t in the group by the day before the course starts, there is a problem with your enrollment (perhaps a mistyped email address?) and you need to reach out to us ASAP.

Kari will be ready to help you with enrollment issues at kari@childoftheredwoods.com

Your enrollment guarantees one Facebook account in the discussion forum. To add a spouse, partner, or other family member who lives with you, you will need to pay for another enrollment. If you wish to do this, let me know and I will accommodate.

3. About the Course Content

The pre-recorded videos and all printable handouts will all be hosted on a private section of my website. To access them, all you need to do is log in with your email address and password. You will be able to access them anytime you like.

Do not share your login or password. It is for your personal use. Failure to follow this rule will result in your immediate removal from the course.

You are, however, welcome to share, watch, collaborate, and do these assignments together with your spouse, partner, or immediate family member that lives with you.

I want this course to be family-friendly so that I can help you with your homeschooling, but if a friend or online acquaintance is asking to join the class, please make sure you clearly understand our privacy rule.

4. ABOUT THE LIVE GROUP COACHING

All of the group coaching sessions will be streamed Live using a separate webinar service, currently Webinarjam, (not on Facebook) as scheduled on the main menu.

The days and times are subject to change as I am still currently very much a full time homeschooling parent and my kids do occasionally get sick and/or need unanticipated transportation.

I will do my best to give you 24 hours advance notice if I need to reschedule. You will always be able to ask me questions ahead of time, and you will be emailed a direct link to the Live room on the day of the session.

The live streaming service I use is very dependable, but as with all technology, the amount of visual and audio lagging also depends on YOUR wifi and what device you are using to access the live streaming.

For the best experience, make sure you have rebooted your laptop or mobile device and have closed all other browsers. Doublecheck your wifi connection as well. Some participants have found that it works better for them on one device vs. the other, so if it is possible, be ready to test it out during that first live video. When you see the screen appear you may need to hit the “play” button.

5. ABOUT THE GROUP DISCUSSIONS

The Facebook group will be a vibrant, active community filled with inspiring quotes, discussion topics, motivational challenges, and more.

Your participation and attendance in the group is optional, but if you choose to participate, I humbly request that you make a habit of “liking” the posts as you read them, commenting with an opinion yourself on at least 5 posts per week, and replying to someone else’s comments 5 times per week. This makes the group a fun, dynamic place to hang out while we learn.

My tip: do not try to read ALL of the comments if a thread is very popular. DO respond to or “like” a few of the comments that really resonate with you.

When you take the time to comment yourself, you are solidifying the ideas in your own head, and this is an important part of the learning process that will really hit home during the Sensorial unit.

The previous members of this class who feel that the discussions greatly aided their knowledge base are heavy commenters!

Finally, please realize that Facebook is available 24/7.

This is fantastic because it allows us to respond asynchronously - in our own time zones. However, just because a discussion is always happening, this does not mean that you need to be online all of the time!

I am counting on you to MANAGE YOUR SCREEN TIME during this course. Decide how much time you are willing and able to spend reading and commenting. I will not be online the whole time either. I will be popping in and out as it fits my life homeschooling my own children.

Enter and exit the group space with mindful intention.

Turn your notification settings off.

There is no rush to get through the discussions.

PART 2: COURSE EXPECTATIONS & PRIVACY

PARTICIPANTS RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Facebook

Participants must have access to Facebook to enroll in the community forum. Participants will receive access to a private Facebook group upon enrollment. Access to this Facebook group will continue for as long as as participant chooses, unless a community standard is violated.

Aubrey Hargis will moderate this Facebook group until the end of the course. At that time, the group will be open for anyone to post about homeschooling.

Promotional posts by members will never be allowed. If a participant chooses to leave the Facebook group early or if the participant’s access to Facebook is suddenly removed or suspended, there will be no course refunds.

Course Materials

Course materials and media (video and printable content) on the website will be available anytime through the login and password created by the participant. It is each participant’s responsibility to download or print the course materials as needed.

Privacy

All materials shared as a part of this course are subject to copyright. Participants may NOT share course materials in any form, for any reason. Sharing of course materials may lead to penalties under the law. Participants are also banned from sharing Facebook group discussions or pictures of others. This material must stay in the Facebook group. If a participant shares group materials outside of the group, the participant will be immediately removed from the course.

Refunds and Removal

During the first 7 days of class, if there are extenuating circumstances that preclude you from participating in the course, please email me directly (aubrey@childoftheredwoods.com). You may request a refund and will be refunded the amount you paid minus the small processing fee PayPal or stripe (credit card) charges. No refunds will be issued after the first 7 days of the course from the official starting date.

Removal from the course without refund will occur immediately if a participant shares course content. Removal can also occur at the discretion of Aubrey Hargis for any violation of community standards.

Community Standards

Every participant in the course must abide by the following community standards:

  • Participants will act with grace and courtesy within the group. This includes refraining from name calling, profanity, disrespect, and judgment.

  • Participants will refrain from harassing behavior including soliciting members for any offer, sharing affiliate links of any kind, or posting content unrelated to the course within the Facebook group.

  • Participants should remember that everyone is here to support each other on their Montessori journey. The Facebook group is not the place to fight or discuss topics unrelated to Montessori.

  • Participants will contact Aubrey Hargis privately via email or private Facebook message if they have a specific issue with the course or another participant. However, Aubrey Hargis may not available to answer specific questions about a participant’s homeschooling journey in private unless the participant has paid for a private coaching session. All questions and clarifications about the program itself should be directed to aubrey@childoftheredwoods.com. All subject-content questions for Aubrey should be asked before or during the Live group coaching sessions.

Coaching Sessions

Aubrey Hargis will offer private coaching on a case-by-case basis. Contact Aubrey personally for availability.
