What Are Montessori Planning Cards?

Planning your homeschool week can be one of the most time-consuming and emotionally draining parts of homeschooling unless you have a system that makes it playful, practical, and empowering. We believe that planning should be a time you look forward to every week.

The Montessori Planning Card System™ takes the entire Child of the Redwoods curriculum and breaks it into bite-sized, parent-friendly tools. It helps you focus, prioritize, and stay organized without drowning in to-do lists or sticky notes.

All you need is a printer and an index card box.

How to Use Your Montessori Planning Cards

Choose

Start each week with one Theme card, and then pick up to four Foundation cards. Not sure what to choose? Don’t worry, we give guidance for every child’s age. Everyone can play, and finding your child’s level is pretty simple.

Teach

Use your cards to guide your week. Each one corresponds to a specific foundational lesson. Pull up step-by-step support in the Lesson Explorer, or follow the script on the printable guides.

Track

At the end of the week, check off the lessons you completed. Reuse favorites, rotate new ones in, or retire lessons that no longer serve your child’s needs. You can use these in combination with our other Lesson Trackers.

With six clearly defined levels, you’ll focus on just one level at a time, keeping your homeschool planning simple and stress-free.
