Montessori Teaching Guides

A Complete, Leveled Montessori Curriculum Designed for Your Home

At the heart of the Child of the Redwoods curriculum are the Montessori Teaching Guides.

They provide a cohesive, level-by-level Montessori education for ages 2–9, organized into six progressive stages.

Each level integrates all subject areas into one clear developmental path so you always know what comes next.

This is a fully developed Montessori education, ready for you to use in your home.

It's also your antidote to mental overload. Dog ate your lesson plan? Toddler spilled applesauce all over it? Left it in your diaper bag and it got smushed to the bottom? NO WORRIES. We’ve got you.

Just grab your phone, type in the topic of the lesson you wanted to teach, and the whole dang script and set of step-by-step instructions you requested magically appears. It’s all searchable, simple, and with you everyday.

A Montessori Curriculum, Carefully Sequenced

Each Teaching Guide presents a complete developmental stage.

Lessons are integrated across subjects and arranged in a deliberate progression. Foundational skills support emerging ones. Concrete experiences prepare for abstract reasoning.

The structure is clear. The sequence is intentional. The progression is continuous.

Whether you are guiding one child from year to year or several children at once, the design allows each child to move forward at their own pace without losing coherence across your homeschool. The curriculum works for your whole family.

This means you can move forward level by level as you follow your child.

Six Levels. A Clear Developmental Progression.

You might notice your child racing ahead in one area while taking it slow in another — and both are completely normal. That's exactly what the leveled framework is designed to support.

Here is the progression across the journey:

Level 1 | Building Foundations

This is where it all begins. Your child is learning to move with purpose and tune into their senses, while early number awareness and a love of language start to take root through stories, sounds, and rich conversation.

Level 2 | Exploring Relationships

Things start to connect in new ways. Numbers become something your child can see and touch, reading and writing begin to emerge, and the world gets bigger as science and culture open up a whole new range of questions.

Level 3 | Strengthening Connections

Reading starts to flow more naturally and writing finds its footing. Math goes deeper through hands-on materials that make abstract ideas feel real, while exploration across science and culture becomes a little more structured and a little more satisfying.

Level 4 | Deepening Understanding

Your child is ready for the bigger ideas now. Fractions, decimals, and geometry expand their reasoning, grammar matures, and history and geography open up into something richer as your child begins to see how the pieces of the world fit together.

Level 5 | Becoming a Problem Solver

Abstract thinking really takes hold here. Math becomes more complex and satisfying, writing grows into something analytical and persuasive, and your child starts to understand systems in a deeper way, seeing not just what things are but how and why they work.

Level 6 | Thinking Big and Free

Your child is driving their own learning now. Through research and real independent reasoning, they're engaging with advanced mathematics, global history, and structured inquiry in ways that set the stage for whatever comes next.

This is a progression built to go deep, and to make your child feel capable every step of the way

Integrated Lessons Across All Subject Areas

Each Montessori Teaching Guide integrates:

• Practical Life

• Sensorial

• Reading and Writing

• Grammar

• Mathematics

• Geometry

• Life Science

• Physical Science

• Humankind

• The Arts

This is interdisciplinary learning at its best. Growth in one area quietly supports what's happening in another, and skills weave together naturally so learning feels like one connected experience.

Instead of managing separate subject books, you work within one cohesive level at a time.

Materials Guidance for Every Level

Montessori homeschooling often raises one practical question:

“What materials do I actually need?”

Each Teaching Guide includes a detailed materials list.

You will know:

• Which materials are essential

• Which are recommended

• Which can be made at home

• Which are optional

• Which can confidently be skipped

Everything you need is already written down for you. No hunting down supply lists from multiple sources, no wondering if you've missed something foundational. The guidance is curated for real homes and real families.

Written for Homeschooling Parents

The Montessori Teaching Guides are written specifically for parents teaching at home.

You do not need Montessori certification.

You do not need to construct your own scope and sequence.

You do not need to memorize classroom albums.

The curriculum has been adapted thoughtfully for home use while remaining faithful to Montessori principles.

The structure supports you so you can focus on just one thing: guiding your child.

The Foundation of Your Montessori Homeschool

The Teaching Guides form the foundation of the Child of the Redwoods curriculum.

They are supported by:

• Fully scripted lesson presentations

• Daily planning support

• A searchable digital Lesson Explorer

• Parent courses and professional development

• Ongoing coaching and community

Everything builds from the guide, level by level, from concrete to abstract, from early childhood all the way through elementary.
